5 October 2004 - Infants murdered, killers spared Dear Editor, I continue to be amazed at the lengths that some individuals and organizations will go to thwart lawful decisions of the courts. A recent letter pleading for the life of convicted murderer, Sammy Perkins, is but one example of bleeding heart liberals running amok. On December 15, 1993, Sammy Crystal Perkins was convicted of raping and murdering 7-year-old Lashenna "Jo Jo" Moore in her grandmother's home, April 18, 1992. Amnesty International, a group opposed to Perkin's execution under any circumstances, remains strangely silent when confronted with terror killings in Iraq and elsewhere in the Middle East. In a bizarre twist, staff and members of the National Coalition to Abolish the Death Penalty are active in promoting so-called "abortion rights," which is another term for infanticide. Every excuse in the book is being used to try and save the lives of violent murderers while the lives of the innocent pre-born are treated as "medical waste." The radical left demands the right to kill a living being, ignoring the fact that only God can create a life. These grotesque actions are fully supported by the National Democrat party. Their presidential candidate has sworn never to appoint a "Pro-Life" justice to the Supreme Court. This will ensure the continued slaughter of young lives, even as they are descending the birth canal. If Americans wish to see mad killers spared from execution while, at the same time, babies are murdered because they are an inconvenience, vote for John Kerry. Derick S. Hartshorn Conover, NC
