OUR SUMMER VACATION
& REUNION |
|
Our
extended Hartshorn family attends every Hartshorn Reunion in
which we are able.
This 2004 reunion at Tilghman Is., MD will be our 12th annual, if
I recall correctly.
[The
previous eleven Hartshorn reunions will be featured as I am able
to post them.]
The
2005 Hartshorn Reunion will be in England, in the Midlands.
We hope that many attend to return to the country of their
origin.
[We will keep an active page to post information as it becomes
available.]
This is the area we will be visiting:

We went to Tilghman Island, on Maryland's Eastern Shore, for the Hartshorn Reunion.

This is a
view of the 2004 Reunion through the eyes of a Hartshorn.
They naturally include Hartshorns who are dear to us.
We are beginning our trip at Oxford, Maryland.

[Here we
are at the Robert Morris Inn, Oxford, Maryland.
This is a small but beautiful town on Maryland's Eastern Shore.
We are about to make a short tour through the
town's historic district (which includes the entire town).
Beginning
with my family, I'll start with the newest member.
Eight months old and just starting to crawl, our new
addition to the family is Kensley Celeste Southers.

Jessica, first grandchild, now living in Texas,
just loves her dearly.

Her North Carolina cousin is Kerigan Sadie Southers

Here she is at the Chesapeake Maritime Museum, in St. Michaels
Sadly, the
time they get to spend together is too short.
We managed to get the tour bus to drive
through a cemetery with MANY overhanging limbs.
Curtis, the driver, was not a bit pleased as the water oak limbs
ripped away his antennae.

Here are Jess and Kerigan at the grave Col. Tench Tilghman, in Oxford, MD.
Jess enjoys clowning and laying back when she comes here ...

... and she has never lost her love of pitted olives (nor
pickles).
A guided
tour of the
The Hartshorn Reunion 2004
is up and running HERE!
Here a pic of (L-R) Kerigan, me and Jess.

This is
taken at St. Michaels, "The Town That Fooled the
British."
We rode from Oxford to Belleview on the oldest continuous ferry in the nation.

Less than a dozen cars fit on this ferry.
We had a wonderful tour through Annapolis and the U.S. Naval Academy.

and saw the museum, the chapel and the tomb of John Paul Jones.
We had
dinner at the Miles River Yacht Club.
The sign by the tennis courts welcomed us.

The food and fun really made this a special evening.
We had
really great entertainment and fun.
Since Lana's husband wouldn't dance..........

............
she grabbed Jack Hartshorn, a fantastic dancer.
Pretty
soon, Jack and wife, Theo, were treating our girls to their very
first dance.

Jess and Kerigan have now arrived on the social scene.
(Jack's ancestors have their own web
site)
The time ended too quickly.
We made many new friends
and enjoyed warm fellowship
with folks we've known for
what seems like forever.
Here's a
synopsis of what we experienced:
