HARTSHORN FAMILY REUNION - JUNE 2004
Tentative Itinerary

| June
20 Sunday 7-9 PM |
Arrival
at Harrison's Chesapeake House, Tilghman island, Maryland. Closest airport
is Baltimore-Washington International. It is about a two
hour drive from the airport to Harrison's. Harrison's has
a pool and provides opportunities for sport fishing and
summer relaxing. Reunion registration at Harrison's. (Dinner tonight is on your own.) |

| June 21 Monday | Breakfast
at Harrison's. Chartered bus will transport the group to St. Michaels (about 10 miles). St.
Michael's has a nice mix of history, gift shops,
restaurants, and small town charm. It is known as
"the town that fooled the British" due to the
clever action of early settlers during the war of 1812.
Upon word of an impending attack the townspeople hoisted
lanterns high up onto the masts of their sailboats and
into the tops of the trees causing the British to
overshoot the town. On a guided tour of the Maritime
Museum,
situated on the water front we will learn about the
Chesapeake Bay and the stories of the people who have
lived, worked, and played there. Lunch will be on your
own. Then free time to visit the various shops and wander
around the quaint village. Return by bus at 2:30 PM to
Harrison's for a cruise on the Chesapeake Bay. After the cruise Harrison's will provide dinner for the group.
|

| June 22 Tuesday | Breakfast
at Harrison's. Chartered bus to Annapolis, MD. Founded in 1649, and the
capital of the U.S. at the end of the Revolutionary War,
Annapolis is a scenic town of trim colonial buildings
along tree-lined brick streets. Qualm shops and
restaurants draw strollers to the well-preserved downtown
historic area, built mostly in the mid 1700s, and to the
busy water front.
We will begin with a tour of the Naval Academy. Guided and/or self-guided tours will cover additional sites. A group lunch will be arranged. Then free time and dinner on your own. Chartered bus will transport the group back to Harrison's. |

| June 23 Wednesday | Breakfast at Harrison's. Chartered bus to Oxford for a tour of the town. Named after the town in England, Oxford was a busy port in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. It boomed for a short time in the late 1800s as a shipping center for oysters. Author" James Michener often ate here at the Robert Morris Inn but during the time he was working on "Chesapeake". Lunch will be arranged in Oxford. Return bus to Harrison's and an afternoon to relax. Car pool (about 9 miles) to the Miles River Yacht Club for the business meeting, followed by a buffet dinner and entertainment by singer Shelly Abbot. Known for her Patsy Cline show.
