This family suddenly appears in Portsmouth, N.H. without any
clue as to their origin. In February, 1688, a Nathaniel Hartshorne of Denham,
Bucks., England was transported to America as a reprieved prisoner from
the Norfolk Circuit [Peter Coldham: Complete Book of Emigrants 1661-1699].
Whether this Nathaniel is an ancester of this family is not known as any
further records about him are missing.
