Four Generations of the Descendants of

Thomas Dudely HARTSHORN

Virtually nothing is known about the origin of Thomas D. Hartshorn other than than his enlistment in the Army 1 April 1862. The earliest geographic location he can be found is Champaign Co., Ohio. He might possibly be the son of Loyal Hartshorn who was also located in Champaign County and appears of the right age to be his father.

Loyal Hartshorn was appointed Lieutenant of the 12th Company, 1st Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 5th Division of the Ohio State Militia on 3 Sep 1841 [Governor's Commission, dated 7 Oct 1841]. He was sworn before John Thomas, JP, justice for Champaign County,  on 1 Feb 1842.
