First Generation

1. Emmanuel Elisha HARTSHORN was born before 2 Jul 1815 in Wednesbury, Staffordshire, England. He was baptized on 2 Jul 1815 in St. Bartholomew, Wednesbury, Staffordshire, England. He died on 6 May 1877 in Chillicothe, Wapelo, Iowa. He was buried in Myrick Cemetery, Chillicothe, Iowa. Christening records list father as Richard and mother as Sarah. They could be the Richard Hartshorne and Sarah Jones who were married 24 Oct 1814, Sedgley, Stafford, England.

Little is know about Emmanuel's entry into this country but probably arrived prior to 1847. He is listed in the1850 census of Pennsylvania, Lehigh county, Hanover Twp. page 169.
He is also listed in the 1860 Iowa census in Wapello county, Center Twp., Ottumwa, page 49. [work by Jack Porter of Dubuque]

Emmanuel Elisha HARTSHORN and Margaret MORGAN were married on 3 Jul 1836 in Llannely, Brecon, Wales. Margaret MORGAN was born about 1807 in Llanover, Monmouth, Wales. She died on 21 Jul 1881 in Beacon, Mahaska, Iowa. Emmanuel Elisha HARTSHORN and Margaret MORGAN had the following children:
