18. Israel Elmer HARTSHORN, (son of James Louis and Susan/Susannah (Carpenter) Hartshorn), was born on 19 Feb 1860 in Princeton, Bureau County, Illinois. (He was also reported to have been born, 1866, in Corning, Adams, Iowa.) He died on 20 Mar 1929 at the age of 69 and was buried in Oakland Cemetery, Corning, Quincy Twp. (2 miles south of Carbon), Iowa. . Several unknown newspaper articles provide the following: “Israel Hartshorn & Family of Corning, Iowa arrived in city (Louisville, NE)” Sat. last; 15 April 1892.” And “George Latimore, Kirk Spdeen & Israel Hartshorn are at Murlock this week doing the mason work for a brick building over there.; 13 May 1892.” At the end of his life, Israel resided in Havelock, Nebraska.

Israel Elmer HARTSHORN and Olive Hester OWENS were married on 28 Jul 1884 in Jefferson County, Kansas. Olive Hester OWENS³ (daughter of John R. OWENS and Permelia Melvina SAMPLES) was born on 7 Aug 1861 in Jefferson County, Kansas. She died on 11 Feb 1947 in Omaha, Douglas, Nebraska and was buried on 16 Feb 1947 in Mount Hope Cemetery, Independence, Kansas. Olive was the sister of Delcena Owens, wife of brother David.
