Emily HARTSHORN was born on 2 Nov 1850 in Delphos, Allen, Ohio.
She died on 23 Dec 1918 in Delphos, Allen, Ohio. She was buried
in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Delphos, Ohio. She was Methodist.
Malinda died after a 6 months illness from cancer of the Breast. A life
long resident of the area, she was born near the Auglaize River in Allen County,
a daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Elmore Hartshorn. Married 3/22/1866, lived East
of Delphos 5 years, then moved to Douglas and Third Streets in Delphos until
her death. Three children died in infancy and son Roy died 7 weeks previous
to mother's death. Malinda survived by her husband and the following children:
Mrs. John Allen, Gates Mills, Ohio, Mrs. Fred Kunz and Mrs. Glen Fostnaught near
Delphos, Mrs. Geo Bly & Mrs. Joseph Louth of Van Wert, Harry, Fanny &
Van at home and also a sister Mrs. A.J. Eckfeld, Marion, half sister Mrs. Bertha
Conner, New Baltimore, OH and half brother Clarence Hartshorn of Toledo. [Delphos

on 22 Mar 1866 in Allen County, Ohio. Josiah
CLAWSON (son of Josiah CLAWSON and Elizabeth HIRE) was born on 8 Mar 1844
in Delphos, Allen, Ohio. He died on 19 Mar 1922 in Delphos, Allen,
Ohio. He was buried in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Delphos, Ohio.
He was Farmer, Soldier. He was Methodist. He lived Delphos,
Allen, Ohio. Josiah served in the American Civil War 118th O.V.I.
in Tenn. In action balance of war, was at Atlanta Georgia and in the March to
the Sea. 1862-1865.

Josiah Clawson, one of Delphos' oldest and most respected citizens, passed
away Sunday afternoon at three-ten o'clock at the family home, 232 North Douglas
Street. Mr. Clawson was ailing for several weeks, but was confined to his bed
but about three days previous to his death. Infirmities due to his advanced
age caused his demise.
Mr. Clawson was born in Allen County, son of Mr. and Mrs. Josiah Clawson,
Sr., on March 8, 1844. He was a few days over seventy-eight years of age at
the time of his death and spent practically his entire life in Allen County.
His birthplace was the homestead near the Hartshorn Cemetery and he spent his
early life there.
The deceased was a veteran of the Civil War and served four years after
which he was honorably discharged.
His marriage to Miss Malinda Hartshorn took place in March 1865. Mr. and
Mrs. Clawson were married fifty-four years when Mrs. Clawson was called by death.
She passed away three years ago last December 22.
Mr. Clawson's occupation during most of his life was farming. Eight years
ago, he retired and the family moved to this city to reside.
Twelve children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Clawson, five of whom are now
deceased. Mr. Clawson is survived by seven children, one sister, three half-brothers,
ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the Methodist church, of the I.O.O.F., and the Rebekah
lodges, and the G.A.R.
The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at two-o'clock at the Methodist
church, Rev Deaton officiating. Interment will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery.

LAST RITES: LAST SAD RITES FOR J. CLAWSON HELD THURSDAY
CIVIL WAR VETERAN INTERRED WITH MILITARY HONORS - I.O.O.F. AND
REBEKAHS ATTEND SERVICES - HONORARY PALLBEARERS ARE G.A.R. MEMBERS
Services were held Thursday Afternoon at two o'clock at the Methodist
church over the remains of Josiah Clawson, Rev. W.A. Deaton officiating. The
last rites were very largely attended, as Mr. Clawson was well known in this
vicinity.
Special music during the services was furnished by Mrs. Ed. Lybarger and
Mrs. J. Wolfe, with Mrs. Clarence Judkins, organist. A beautiful solo was rendered
by Mrs. Rose Fast.
The Odd Fellows and the Rebekahs, Mr. Clawson having been a member of both
lodges, attended the services in a body and the former had charge at the church
and also at the grave in Walnut Grove cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were selected from the among the G.A.R. They were Isaac
Ludwig, J.N. Cochran, Jasper Brotherton, Mr. Eggeman, of Ft. Jennings, and Evan
H. Jones. The casket and hearse were draped in large American flags, as Mr.
Clawson was a veteran of the Civil War.
Acting pallbearers were John Friend, John Wade, Forg Irick, T.N. Bellis,
Will Steinle and Joseph Weisgerber. (Delphos Herald March 24, 1922) Malinda

DEATH OF MRS. FLORA KUNZ
Mrs. Flora A. Kunz, a lifelong resident of this community, died at her home
at 917 East Second Street at 11:00 o'clock Monday evening. On Friday of last
week, she suffered a stroke and since that time, her condition had been serious.
Born near Delphos on May 25, 1873, Flora Clawson was a daughter of Josiah
and Malinda Clawson. Her marriage to Fred Kunz took place on September 6, 1893.
The death of Mr. Kunz occurred on March 1, 1934. Three years ago, Mrs. Kunz
moved from her home northeast of this city to East Second street.
When her death occurred, she was seventy years, four months and two days
of age. She was a member of St. John's Church, the Altar Society and the Sacred
Heart League.
Surviving are: two daughters and a son, Mrs. Ben Osting, northeast of Delphos;
Miss Edith Kunz, at home; and Frederick Kunz, northeast of Delphos; nine grandchildren;
one great-grandchild; five sisters, Mrs. Glen Fosnaugh, Lacombe, Alberta, Canada;
Mrs. Nellie Allen, Detroit; and Mrs. Cleo Louth, Mrs. Bessie Bly and Miss Fanny
Clawson, of Lima; and a brother, Harry Clawson, East Fifth street. She was preceded
in death in 1918 by a brother, Roy Clawson.
A grandson, Arnold Osting, Camp Parks, California, is with the United States
Navy.
Services will be conducted at St. John's church at 9:00 o'clock Thursday
morning. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The remains will be at the
Jaumann-Kolkmeyer funeral home until the time of the services. [Obituary - Delphos
