This report covers the line of Richard Hartshorne of Hathern, Leicestershire, England and Monmouth county, New Jersey. It consists of one of the most distinguished of the Hartshorn families. Their contributions to the fields of education, medicine and business give them high standing in today's society. Originally Quakers, most have left their Society of Friends roots for other Protestant denominations. Present-day Hartshorne families, some of whom have dropped the final 'e' of the surname, lived in New Jersey and Pennsylvania but have moved westward over the past 300 years.
